Abstract

The present study was designed to explore attachment styles as predictors of orthorexic eating behaviors in fitness club members. The hypothesis of the study was that attachment styles are likely to predict orthorexic eating behaviors in fitness club members. A cross-sectional research design was used and a sample of fitness club members (N=106) was selected based on purposive sampling technique. Attachment Style Questionnaire and Eating Habit Questionnaire were used to assess study variables. Hierarchical Regression Analysis showed that fearful and dismissing attachment styles were positively predicting orthorexic eating behaviors in fitness club members. The present study emphasized the role of interpersonal factors in the context of orthorexic eating behaviors.
